OPERATION:

This manufacturer consumes large quantities of copper stock that is received on narrow square shaped pallets. Some time before the pallet truck scale became available they weighed some incoming pallets and found them to weigh about 15 % less than stated on the bill of lading and invoice.

Since that time, sample weighing has become a part of the process but, not 100 % due to the lack of staging room around their only floor scale. Pallet trucks are used entirely to unload and move the copper laden pallets to the machine and storage area.

The pallet truck scale has made 100 % weighing possible. The pay back hasn't been determined yet, however, it is anticipated the word will get back to the suppliers and short weighing will be a thing of the past.

In any event, if that occurs, the pallet truck scale will have served its purpose by emerging as a symbol to police the suppliers as an innocently stationed squad car at the edge of town controls speeders.
